Long Block: CP S3L-H for 2004 - 2007 STi

Where as the S3L-X is more of a brute, the Crawford S3L-H can be described as the more refined and happy little brother. It is designed around a brand new EJ257 semi closed deck block that incorporates a counterweighted 79mm forged STI crankshaft, longer Crawford Billet H-beam rods and Crawford’s 99.5mm offset forged pistons. We use the High performance STI main and rod bearings in this block along with the STI piston rings. These Genuine STI components allow for maximum safety and reliability, because why fix what's not broken? No cheap knock off parts here. To keep with our high quality standards, we use Crawford offset wristpins to decrease the piston noise associated with forged pistons. Like its big brother, the Crawford Billet H-beam rods serve two purposes; 1) to increase the rod ratio which allows for smoother and efficient power delivery and 2) most importantly… the H-beam rods are engineered to be 90grams lighter per rod than the X-Beam rods. Light rods equate to a lighter rotating assembly, which means, a happier and faster revving motor. The S3L-H is best suited for a pump gas motor.
The Cylinder Heads in this Long Block are completely OEM, just like 90% of the engines built here at Crawford. Even our orange 2008 STI Time-Attack record setter that makes 850bhp is equipped with non-ported OEM cylinder heads! This may come as a shock to most of you, as it is very popular in the industry to modify heads. Although it may be beneficial to port heads on NA applications, or those running in a series that require a restrictor for the turbo, Subaru's OEM and upgraded turbo setups don't need any help in this area. The gain you may get with porting can be made up by simply turning up the boost by 1 pound. Asking this of your tuner is far easier and less of a blow to your wallet than dropping the expense on custom head work (usually upwards of $3,000). That being said, upon request we can build you whatever it is you desire! We just like to offer our customers what is proven to perform in it's least expensive form. We are not here to convince you to spend more money on upgrades that only benefit our wallet, not your car's performance.
There are too many factors in a performance build to put an exact number to this motors horsepower and torque potential, so we give each of our motors a "Rated Output" number. We have seen the S2 withstand up to 450bhp. But no worries, if this isn't enough to satisfy that itch for more power, than check out our other Short Blocks built to last with numbers as high as 800bhp.
*The final compression ratio of this motor is 8.3 to 1. Final compression is based off a USDM STI MY2004-2007 with genuine STI parts.
