The Crawford Performance Air Oil Separator (AOS) is the original solution to Subaru's notorious oiling system issues. Although the technology was pre-existing with other vehicle brands such as Porsche, Crawford Performance is the inventor of the first system specifically for Subaru. No other AOS on the market employs the same technology.
How does it work? The built in AOS that comes factory in Subaru Engines is only semi-efficient at stock power levels. Any added power/stress/heat and G-Forces increases the amount of excess oil that ends up in your intake. Due to the fact the oil is heavier than water and you're dealing with a horizontally-opposed engine, the oil can only end up in one place: coating the tops of your pistons. Since oil is naturally combustible, this causes irregularities with the controlled explosion that happens in this environment, subsequently creating multiple explosions. Another word for this is detonation — an engine killer. Stop the oil from ever getting there with the Crawford Air Oil Separator. Having a secondary system is your fail-safe for detonation that is un-related to a poor tune. You will also consume less oil and help maintain the ultimate mixture in your cylinders to maximize your power output.
This kit includes the can itself, and all necessary hoses and fittings to install. The install does take some mechanical knowledge, so we suggest taking your car in to a professional for installation. That being said, we provide step-by-step instructions so that enthusiasts can install the kit at home with a few simple tools.
