WRX & STI
The legendary WRX and STI came to the US and Canadian market in 2002, with a simple recipe of all-wheel drive, and a turbocharged boxer motor in a small reasonably priced four-door making 227 hp. This was offered in a sedan referred to as the GD chassis, while wagon was referred to as the GG chassis.
In 2004, the STI was finally available for the North American market. Debuting with a 300 hp, turbocharged boxer motor, with a six-speed manual and more go fast goodies. 2008 debuted a hatchback, referred to as the GH chassis, while the STI with a widebody was referred to as the GR chassis, alongside the sedan body style WRX GE chassis and GV, widebody sedan.
In 2015, Subaru went back to a sedan-only offering in North America, referred to as the VA chassis came with a 268 hp from the new FA20 motor, while the STI retained the EJ motor making over 300 hp. The STI was discontinued in 2021.
